THE RELAUNCH!

Empowering girls to break barriers and change their trajectory!

We’re back—relaunching at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in September!

Visit ImaraRoose.org and follow @ImaraRoose!

Imara Roose Inc. is a holistic, inclusive, and transformative mentoring program that assists high school girls with actualizing and maximizing their greatness—personally, academically, and professionally—by empowering them with the knowledge, skills, and social capital necessary to break through systemic barriers to equitable access and opportunity, ultimately changing their trajectory.

OUR REALITY

Communities of color, including Prince George’s County, have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Additionally, the disparate treatment of people of color at the hands of the police is just one example of a systemic inequity black and brown people continue to encounter. Imara Roose remembers the lives of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and the countless other victims of police brutality.

During these extremely difficult, uncertain, and trying times, it is now even more critical that we work within our local communities to play a role in effecting change.

OUR ROLE

Now, more than ever, we stand as a community in solidarity with the rest of the world to demand change. Each of us can play a role in supporting our community. We're working to empower young women of color to break through systemic barriers and ultimately change their trajectory.

We’re not allowing COVID-19 to hinder our efforts, but rather allowing it to serve as a catalyst—pushing us to rethink and innovate how we can advance our mission in a virtual world. As long as Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) remains virtual, Imara Roose will follow suit, but we need your help to make this happen!

Explore our website to learn more about who we are, what we do, and our impact. Then join our movement by making a tax-deductible donation, applying to serve as a volunteer, and helping us amplify awareness about our invaluable work.

OUR IMPACT

From 2012-2016, we hosted over 250 workshops, facilitated 10 field trips, and impacted over 100 black and brown girls! Since then, our mentees have continued on to achieve what they once dreamed of and some have returned to pay it forward. Learn more through the testimonies below!

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

We need to raise at least $25,000 to relaunch operations and prepare for expansion. Raising these funds will allow our volunteers and mentees to participate at little to no cost.

Through crowdfunding, we’re confident that we can raise the necessary funds to inspire, empower, and uplift black and brown girls in our community. Please donate what you can as no amount is too small. Let's work together to show our mentees the power of community!
